Louis XIV style French limestone Mantel with Trumeau, late 17th cen.

Louis XV Period Limestone Mantel, mid-Eighteenth Century

Louis XIII style French Limestone Mantel, circa 1820

Sku code: ALCh 506

Quick Overview

Carved in a grey-beige limestone, this early French mantel speaks eloquence in hushed tones, and carries the classic Renaissance Form devoid of superfluous decoration. Topped with a tiered cornice featuring doucine (ogee) molding that projects slightly on either side, the bottom edge of the substantial lintel features bullnose molding. Crown and lintel are balanced on lovely S-shaped corbels. The straight block legs and feet harmonize with the unadorned expanse of the lintel.
