The overall shape and deeply scalloped rim of wonderful hand-carved marble sink are evocative of a giant sea-shell. The substantial depth of the basin contributes to the organic feel, as does the subtle coloration of the marble. Ranging from a bright bone white to dove-grey striations on the rim and inside the bowl, where some gold oxidation can also be seen. As viewed from the front, the striations are heather grey. It can be custom drilled once hardware is selected.

These distinctive hand-carved marble sinks featured at Pittet Architecturals are all at least 100 years old. We buy them in Europe and they originally come from regions of the Eastern Mediterranean, where marble as been sourced since antiquity. These sinks are products of village craftsmen carrying on centuries-old traditions. The color and type of marble varies from piece to piece. The shape of the piece of marble that the craftsman was working undoubtedly had an influence on the finished shape, and as such, they will not appear perfect dimensions. These are utilitarian objects that have been in continuous use for many decades, and will show the marks consistent with age and use- indeed, their unique character makes them so appealing.
